The Society was formed early in 2003 and is dedicated to research into what parapsychologists call "spontaneous cases"- ghosts, hauntings and related phenomena. We hold regular meetings in Gloucestershire, UK and carry out field research throughout the West of England and beyond.

Although we are primarily an amateur organisation, we aim for the highest level of professionalism in our work. Our membership ranges from armchair enthusiasts to experts, and we encompass all of schools of thought from hardcore non-believers and open-minded skeptics to optimistic ghost-hunters and the religiously faithful.

Our team was featured on satellite channel Living TV's "Most Haunted Live" programme in 2003, and one of our key researchers, CJ Romer, has appeared in a number of TV programmes including the writing of several series for the Discovery Channel, as well as appearing on Channel 4's "Big Breakfast".

Events

We aim to hold two events a month; a regular "pub" meeting, plus a special event, such as a paranormal investigation, ghost walk or guest speaker, which usually takes place on a weekend.

Our monthly meetings are usually held on the second Tuesday of each month in Cheltenham, at the Cotswold Inn (map).

Regular monthly meetings are open to everyone over the age of 18. Our special events have limited availability decided by the committee; typically, only paid members will be allowed on investigations.

New events will usually be discussed on the website, on our mailing list or in the forum.

Publishing

We intend to publish all our minutes, reports and research papers.

To read some of our papers you will require word processing software compatible with Microsoft Word 2000 or above. If you do not have anything suitable, you can use Microsoft Word Viewer for Windows PCs which is free.

Our more important papers will also be made available in Adobe PDF format, readable on a larger range of computers including Macintosh and Unix using Adobe Acrobat Reader which is also free.

You can also find less formal write-ups of our activities, including an informal photo album, on our mailing list.

It is good practice to virus check all downloads, therefore you should virus check our papers before using them.

Currently, minutes and investigation reports are for registered members only.

How To Submit A Document

Please read our guidance for submission of papers for those who wish to have their documents published here on the Parasoc website.
